Busking On The Streets

Busking On The Streets

Busking on the streets making a $100 in an hour, touring all over the country multiple times before graduating high school and joining forces with his best friends forming a band called Why Don’t We. Jack Avery is one of the five musicians’ in the band and we we’re fortunate enough to chat with him briefly while he’s out here in Los Angeles before the band goes on tour.

NOBLE: Tell us a little about yourself. How old you are, where you grew up and what you do?

JA: My name is Jack Avery and I'm 18 years old. I grew up in a small town called Susquehanna Pennsylvania, and I'm a musician in a band with four of my best friends.

NOBLE: When did you first begin to sing and realize you had this incredible talent?

JA: I started singing when I was about 8 years old, and I never thought I had talent with singing until I visited some family friends in Nashville Tennessee. While I was there I went downtown and started busking on the streets and before I knew it I made $100 within an hour. It was at that point I saw I could pursue this as a career!

NOBLE: When did you decide to pursue becoming a recording artist?

JA: I was about 14 years old when I picked up the guitar and started learning how to play it. Eventually I got the hang of it and then I started recording music.

NOBLE: You’re apart of a band called ‘Why Don’t We’ how did the band get started?

JA: Well, at first we were all solo artists and then later on down the line we met each other through touring and other events. The idea was brought about to all of us to maybe form a group. Knowing we all have the same musical aspirations and we've always wanted to be in band, we were like 'Why Don't We?' hahaha!

NOBLE: Where has your voice taken you so far?

JA: Well, thankfully I’ve gotten to travel a lot because of my voice and I’m so incredibly blessed that I can say that. I've been all over the U.S. about 3 times now from touring. Soon my band and I plan on going to Europe so that will be super fun!

NOBLE: Besides guitar do you play any other instruments?

JA: I play piano!

NOBLE: What do you like to do when you have some free time?

JA: I always skateboard when I have free time, but most of my time consists of working with my band. We are very busy almost every second of the day, but it's so much fun and I couldn't be more fortunate.

NOBLE: Where do you get your inspiration from when creating music and who’s currently at the top of your playlist?

JA: To be honest I get my inspiration from my band mates. I feel like you don't always need to have a successful artist as an inspiration when writing because inspiration can come from anywhere. For me I get inspired when I watch my band mates write. As for my playlist, I'm always bumping Kendrick, Jon Bellion and Drake.

NOBLE: Do you have any words of motivation you can offer our fans or anyone thinking about being a recording artist?

JA: Always be happy because life is too short to not be. NEVER give up on your dreams because if you truly think you have talent you can achieve anything in the world if you work hard!

NOBLE: Anyone you would like to thank or shout-out?

JA: My Mom. I wouldn't be where I am today without her guidance and hard work. She the reason why I’m in the position I’m in today. So much love for you Mom!

Thanks so much Jack! We really appreciate your time and we wish you and your band mates a safe and successful tour! Feel free to check out the ‘Why Don’t We’ website to learn more about them.
